How to Remove Tints From Prescription Sunglasses Prescription sunglasses have a tint applied to them using a process in which the lenses are dipped into a small vat of dye. The color is intended to be permanent; and different colors have different uses. For example, yellow is most useful in overcast conditions. Tinted lenses also help to reduce glare from the sun, or to give the glasses a certain style. Tint is sometimes removed from prescription sunglasses, so they can be used as indoor glasses, or to change the color. Tint can only be removed from prescription sunglasses with plastic lenses.

Turn on the dye unit and fill the bleach tag sunglasses, or neutralizer tank with lens bleach. Allow it to heat up to between 190 and 210 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the manufacturer's instructions for the type of lenses you are bleaching.

Remove the lenses from the frame optical sunglasses. For metal frames, use a small jewelers screwdriver to loosen the small screws holding the lenses in place. For plastic frames, gently warm the frame and pop the lenses out.

Clean the lenses thoroughly ray ban online shop, using distilled water. Dry the lenses with a lens cloth. Make sure they have absolutely no ink black sunglasses, oil, debris or fingerprints on them.

Place the lenses in the lens holder of the dye tank. Place one lens on each side of the holder and secure them in place. Slowly lower the lenses into the bleach, or neutralizer, solution.







Check the lenses after one minute. If they are not bleached, return them to the solution. Depending on the type of tint, bleaching can take several minutes. BPI, a large manufacturer of tinting supplies, suggests that leaving lenses in a bleach solution for more than ten minutes can cause crazing of the lens.

Rinse the lenses in distilled water and put them back in the frames 3d sunglasses. You may also re-tint the lenses, if you wish.
