m .nuked again ..now it isnt about dalit nor females or males its just that whole matter is so depressing that you feel like puking ..first cwg .then 2g ..then lobbyists .how much more are we to take it lying down ..guys who never ever indulged in gossip or chats are forced to seek their redemption through chats like this because if you dont do it it gets really frustrating and cynical 3:34 pm December 1, 2010 Roving Mind wrote: Jyoti, even if all allegations are accepted against Ms Barkha Dutt, where do we as a nation stand after that ? Even if we accept she has not used the most ethical ways to get news, can it be such a big issue ? After all, its just about one single person, who is not a govt official and that to with no evidence of corruption !! Isnt it a gross waste of nation s time or perhaps as we are having so much of spare time (with high levels of unemployment) that we can afford to sit and talk about sweet nothings. I think this whole debate is about Barkha Dutt bashing. People are enjoying taking a pot shot at a woman so high-flying like her. We are all getting a perverse sadistic pleasure in bringing her down, like a page out of taming the shrew . Yes there is something about her arrogant ways, that irrittates people, but is that a crime and we are as a society letting loose against a successful ,cheaptomsshoessalei.com, arrogant, high profile woman, toms shoes sale. Sort of social lynching.Thank you Open magazine for leading the way. 3:34 pm December 1, 2010 Vijay Rao wrote: Barkha was clearly trying to brazen it out on the home turf . (She d earlier declined to participate in the discussion on Radia Tapes hosted by Karan Thapar on CNN-IBN.) She never answered any of the specific and pointed questions put to her by Dileep Padgaonkar and Manu Joseph. Interestingly, both, just-say-sorry HMV Baru and the independent (read, freelancer) journalist Swapan Dasgupta hardly had any worthwhile questions for Barkha. It also did not go unnoticed that Sonia Singh pitched in instantly with (useless) footage (read, fillers) at Baru s request to soak up a sixth of the discussion time. No discerning viewer could have missed Dasgupta s vain bid to prompt Barkha (towards the end when her pathetic defences had been doubly ripped open by Manu Joseph) to take the may-be-I m-seen-as-ideologically-close-to-the-Congress line in defence (while indulging in gratuitous potshots at his ex-India Today colleague and bete noire). It s worth noting that a journalist of the calibre of N Ram had only a couple of days ago categorically stated in Karan Thapar s show The Last Word that if Barkha Dutt and Vir Sanghvi were in the employ of BBC, NYT, FT or for that matter, The Hindu, the damning tapes would have without doubt meant an instant end to their careers. It s therefore a tragedy that the likes of Swapan Dasgupta and Sanjaya Baru chose to be complicit in the whole whitewash a plausibility that the veteran Padgaonkar had hinted at at the beginning of the show ,toms shoes. (On hindsight, it s not surprising though in Dasgupta s case. His compulsions as a freelancer are understandable. Related articles:
