(1) More Photos A group of volunteers took the first step in a long restorationprocess at Willoughby Heritage Farm and Nature Conserve onSaturday.The volunteers ― members of the Collinsville Rotary Club, theCollinsville High School National Honor Society and the JuvenileDiversion Program ― planted native woodland trees, grasses andshrubs in part of a four-acre area of the nature conserve that wascleared of invasive plants last month."We have a great group of volunteers digging holes and plantingin the area where we removed a jungle of bush honeysuckle," saidCarol Frerker, education coordinator at Willoughby Farm.Twenty white oaks, viburnums and native grasses were donated forthe beginning of the restoration process."We have finally gone from removing to restoring the natives,"Frerker said. "It's really looking up."Scott Barnes, a master naturalist who also volunteers at thesite, helped with planting and placed protective fences around thenewly planted trees."The viburnums flower and then have berries for the songbirds,"he said.The morning of planting, spreading mulch and hauling waterbuckets for watering the new seedlings was a new experience forsome volunteers."It was a lot of work, but I plan on coming back andvolunteering," said Tiffany Krimminger, a junior and one of the CHSHonor Society members at the planting, http://www.classichandbagshop.com - Michael Kors Hobos .
